Well, I hope you won’t mind if I start this post with my books! I hate to be boastful, but one of the highlights of 2013 for me has unquestionably been seeing my first three cookery books published. The photo above is very precious to me – it was taken at my book launch party in London, with some of my dearest friends, and thinking about it, I will have seen all of them marry since this photo was taken, as of March.
The books have been really well received, well reviewed and are selling well – what more can an author ask for?! This isn’t all about me though, so here are some of my very favourite books of the year.
The Clandestine Cake Club book, published on Valentine’s Day is a gorgeous book, and one I have cooked from so much. There are so many innovative recipes within the book, it contains so many recipes I’m keen to try.
Big Table, Busy Kitchen by Allegra McEvedy has been a hugely enjoyable read for me. I just love Allegra’s recipes and her warm, friendly funny voice that comes through her writing. I’ve cooked from it loads already.
The Pocket Bakery is a long-awaited book for me. I used to visit the Pocket Bakery when I lived in London, and I loved their sourdough breads. I also adore Rose Prince’s recipes, and will be baking my way through the book in 2014.
Do-Ahead Dinners has also been one of my staple books for 2013. James Ramsden is a huge talent, and I love his recipes which encourage me to up my game in the kitchen, yet his recipes are all easy to follow, producing wonderful results.
Perfect Host, by Felicity Cloake is one book I have not been able to put down this year. I read it from cover to cover when it arrived on my doorstep and it is packed full of great ideas.
So there we are. Here’s to lots more exciting cookery books to come in 2014.
Thank you all for following my blog this year. Follow my experiences at Ballymaloe as of next week. I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2014.
